A four by five foot mural was created by the children of the Kakamega Care Center and Orphanage during my first year of Pacifica Field work. The children were ask to come up with a phrase that they felt represented the Care Center. It did not take them long to come up with "Love One Another". The children used small digital cameras to capture pictures of their lives. These pictures were loaded onto an Ipad for the children to explore and talk about. Hours were spent giggling in amazement at the images that were produce.

These pictures were used to inspire the image created on the mural. Children practiced drawing and painting the images that they were responsible for on paper, and then worked with intense focus on the creation of the mural.

The mural now hangs in the dining room of the Kakamega Orphanage and Care Center, where 45 Children live. These children have lost parents, primarily to AIDS . The children are very proud of their creation, and the image serves as a reminder of the sense of community and the comfort that they share an environment that is very nurturing despite very limited resources and devastating losses.
